For over 38 years, our founder Matthew D'Aguanno did what tens of thousands of pool professionals do every single day. He showed up. He hauled equipment. Matthew was not watching this happen from an office. He was the one doing it, pool after pool, customer after customer, for nearly four decades.
How Did VacDaddy Get Started?
It started with a question Matthew could not stop asking: why is this still so hard?
The pool service industry had not fundamentally changed the way professionals vacuum pools in decades. The equipment was heavy, slow to set up, and prone to sending debris right back into a customer's filtration system. Matthew had personally cleaned more than 22,000 pools by the time he decided enough was enough. That frustration, built up over an entire career spent in the field, became the foundation of everything we stand for today.
He did not rush it. Matthew spent ten years developing, testing, and refining the product before it ever reached the market. Ten years of listening to pool professionals, understanding where time was being lost, and engineering a solution that actually fit the reality of the job. Most people would have given up long before the finish line. Matthew treated every setback as information and every improvement as a step closer to something the industry genuinely needed.
